Project Description

Participatory Theatre for Communities

23 – 24 September 2023
CUMO, Kiss József utca 12, 1081
Budapest

How can theatre encourage participation, inclusion, dialogue? How can it become a tool for community work?

We will experience Participatory Theatre through a playful and embodied introduction to a combination of practices:
Image Theatre, Forum Theatre, Playback Theatre, Embodied Storytelling and elements of Dramatherapy.

Honouring the lived stories of the group and activating our collective imagination, we are going to explore together how a theatrical process can become a participatory means for personal/community transformation.

The workshop will offer resources to all those engaging communities with creative and theatre tools, or interested in doing so. It is addressed to facilitators, educators, therapists, psychologists, health professionals, community/social workers as well as anyone else who would be interested in experiencing Participatory Theatre.

No previous theatre experience is needed.

At the end of the workshop the participants will receive a corpus of relevant bibliography.

The workshop consists of 12 working hours, in the days:
Saturday 23th and Sunday 24th September 2023
10.30 – 18.00 (including lunch-break)

ANAMUH can offer a limited number of scholarships to cover the participation fees, with particular focus on people willing to include this training opportunity into their human and professional experience, and/or with the intention of applying Participatory Theatre methods in their own communities. Please apply by 31 August 2023.
